The Shadow Box by Michael Cristofer is a moving, deeply human play about three terminally ill patients and the loved ones who have come to stay with them. Living in separate cottages on the grounds of a hospital, each group faces the reality of death in a very different way, confronting love, fear, anger, regret, and the things that are hardest to say out loud.

While the subject matter is serious, The Shadow Box is also filled with humor, warmth, and moments of surprising joy. At its heart, the play is less about dying than it is about how we choose to live, connect, forgive, and let go when we realize that our time together is limited.
